Music with Miss Lisa!
Hello and welcome to my website! I am happy you are here. Are you looking for something musical, active and fun to do with your son or daughter? Do you want to begin building a musical foundation for your child that supports and enriches them throughout a lifetime? Are you seeking to connect with other parents in a lively and entertaining class that is fun for both adults and children? Then you’ve come to the right place.
Please feel free to look through the information I’ve provided for you. Search through the listing of class locations, times and age groupings. See which one would best suit you and your child. We utilize all kinds of entertaining things for kids this age – age appropriate percussion instruments like shakers, rhythm sticks, drums and bells; parachutes, puppets, bubbles, books, and scarves. In my classes, we dance and laugh ALOT.
A little bit about me: I have been teaching music for over ten years. My specialty is instruction for children seven and under. In fact, I have been singing, dancing, sharing, performing, playing and tapping to the beat for kids this age for almost 20 years; it’s hard to believe! And, I enjoy it just as much today as I did when I first started.
I believe in children. I love to share music with them and their families. Music has played such an important part in my life since I was a young child. And my love of it has remained with me well into my adulthood. I studied music in college and have performed widely. I am a woodwind player by training and play other instruments too. I sing every single day. I’m also a fan of puppets. Puppets? Yes, puppets. I love them. I have a very big collection.
I am a parent myself of 2nd and 3rd graders. For those of you who are parents of infants, toddlers or preschoolers, I can tell you – I’ve been there! I know children because I have happily interacted with them my entire life.
I believe that, for young children, the exploration of music and the early development of language go hand in hand. I have researched this extensively and have shared what I’ve learned with groups both large and small. In addition to being a teacher, I am an adult student who continues to learn new things all the time.
And, I do know this: so MUCH happens in the brains of our young people when you expose them to music and language in environments that are enriching and enjoyable, ones in which they feel nurtured. Ask me about it sometime when you come to class and I will chat with you about it. I’d love to hear what you have to say. For me, I know that providing a place for families to enjoy music and learning together is critical. Words and music matter!
This is my calling. Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you. Words and music, music and words. And teaching too. It’s my passion! And I love people. You’ll see. I have established warm rapport in all of my classes with the hundreds of parents, grandparents and others who care about their children. In this way, together with family members as teaching partners, I have provided the musical foundation for over 800 children during my music teaching career, and have provided the literacy foundation for thousands. I could not be more pleased and proud. My wish is that all of you can experience joy in your life in a similar way that I do when I am teaching children. I just adore it.
Please, take a look around this website. Explore a bit. Then contact me. Come sing dance and play with us! We have such a wonderful time in class. Join us, and you will see.
